Schedule - Monday - Friday and on a Saturday rotation 8am - noon

Summary

Responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating nursing care to an assigned group of patients in accordance with prescribed hospital policy under the direction of the R.N.

Responsibilities

Call patients to triage or exam room in a timely and efficient manner. Assess patient's condition and conduct initial interview, collect vital signs and perform any other procedure necessary to prepare the patient for the physician's examination.. Inform physician of patient's urgency and needs.

Review charts for next day patients, collecting test results, documentation forms or medical records as necessary.

Check each chart for orders after the physician has examined the patient; carry out orders and perform requested services. Administer all immunizations, p.o. medications and all injectable medications as ordered by the physician. Draw blood or collect other samples for tests as needed and prepare samples for transport to hospital laboratory.

Operate the Children's Hospital computer system; enter patients and schedule for lab and x-ray.

Order supplies and equipment as needed.

Requirements

Graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing.

One year experience in pediatrics, primary care, or specialty services appropriate for the position preferred.

Current Alabama LPN Licensure required.
