In Pharmacy at Main Campus Children's of Alabama

Work schedule will be Full-time on the Day Shift, Monday-Friday, 7am-3:30pm.

Summary:

• Responsible for coordination and supervision of price negotiation, selection, purchasing, and evaluation of pharmaceuticals and supplies for the Pharmacy Department in accordance with stated philosophies, policies, goals, and objectives. 
• Assumes duties for the Director of Pharmacy as assigned. 
• Knowledge of COA Performance Improvement Initiatives. 
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Software; Excel, Word and Outlook.

Essential:
* Licensed Pharmacist
* Pharmacy Parenteral Certification

Education with Equivalent Qualifications:

Essential:
* Doctorate of Pharmacy in Pharmacy or any of the following equivalent qualifications below:
    - 20 Years job experience as Staff Level with specialization in the field of Pharmacy
    - Bachelors of Science or Arts in Pharmacy
* Doctorate of Pharmacy

Experience with Equivalent Qualifications:
Nonessential:
* 3 Years job experience as Staff Level with specialization in the field of Pharmacy

The Pharmacy Department operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to provide excellent pharmaceutical care to Children’s of Alabama Patients. Services include, compounding of sterile and non-sterile medication, pharmacokinetics, medication order verification, OR preference bags, hazardous medication dispensing and compounding, clinical pharmacy services, unit-dosing of medication, automatic dispensing machines (Pyxis), investigational study pharmacy, medication delivery and more. The pharmacy operates out of a central pharmacy located in the Benjamin Russell building. Decentralized services are provided by clinical pharmacists on the units and several pharmacy satellites (main campus OR, Children’s South, hematology/oncology clinic, Investigational Pharmacy). The pharmacy utilizes Epic, Epic Willow Inventory, bar code scanning, vertical carousels, and kit management software.
