Respiratory Therapist CVICU and CCU - QI

- The Lead RRT, CVICU QA/QI is responsible for ensuring the delivery of quality respiratory care to patients in various clinical environments, with a primary focus within the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (CVICU). This person will serve as a member of an interdisciplinary team which provides care to children across the spectrum of care. They will be responsible for quality assurance and improvement initiatives by maintaining a high level of reliability to QI, QA, and SPS initiatives via chart review, visual audits, and caregiver interactions. They will be expected to collaborate with area clinical and administrative leaders to develop, implement, and monitor quality improvement initiatives. This person is also expected to take the steps necessary to maintain compliance with regulatory and accreditation agency standards, including but not limited to Joint Commission, CAP, and IRB. The Lead RRT, CVICU QA/QI reports directly to the Respiratory Care Clinical Coordinator, CVICU with administrative and clinical guidance from the CVICU Coordinator, the Manager of Respiratory Care - Critical Care Division, Director of Respiratory Care, the area Medical Director, and other Critical Care Division physicians. This person carries out assigned duties and responsibilities according to policies, procedures, and guidelines approved by the Medical Director of the department. Standards of performance of the area to which the individual is assigned must be maintained.
- Education
- The practitioner must be a graduate of an American Medical Association approved 2 or 4 year program of respiratory therapy.
- Experience
- The practitioner must have a minimum of one year experience in the field of respiratory therapy. A minimum of six months of intensive care unit experience is preferred.
- Licensures, Certifications, and/or Registries
- The practitioner must be licensed by the Alabama State Board of Respiratory Care. The individual must be registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care or must be eligible for registry and sit for and pass the registry examination within a specified amount of time.
- Current BLS certification required.
Location: Children's of Alabama · Respiratory Care CVICU and CCU
Schedule: 12 Hour, Day shift, 7:00am- 7:00pm
