  • Job Summary
    • The Junior League of Birmingham Sunshine School is a school based program, staffed by certified teachers, and designed to serve children with unique educational needs due to chronic health issues. The staff facilitates the exchange of information among families, hospital personnel and the patient’s school; advocates for the patient’s needs upon return to the school setting; communicates all information necessary to enhance the patient’s educational experience; and educates all involved concerning the patient’s unique needs and requirements while hospitalized, at home or attending school.
  • Education
    • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree
    • Master's degree preferred
  • Experience
    • 3 years of classroom experience preferred
    • Additional education will be accepted in lieu of experience
  • Licensures, Certifications, and/or Registries
    • Must be certified by the state of Alabama with a current teaching certificate and must maintain such during employment. If teaching certification has lapsed and application for re-certification has been submitted to the state, candidate can be hired but re-certification must be confirmed within 90 days. 
    • Certification in Special Education is preferred
