Mary Franklin Shares a New Hire’s Perspective of the Neurophysiology Team

Mary Franklin’s journey at Children’s started in May of 2017. As a fairly new hire, Mary’s first five months at Children’s have already shown her the success, growth and opportunities you can have in your career here as a Neurodiagnostic Specialist I. She says, “Overall, I really enjoy my job and love working at Children’s. It is a great and very rewarding place to work!”

Meeting the Neurophysiology Team

“The group of people I work with are intelligent and knowledgeable in our field of expertise. They are very caring and make the patient their first priority. I feel thankful and blessed to work with such a great group of people. We all work really well together and are able to not only make the patient our first priority, but also each other. It’s important to keep up our skills in communication, education and leadership, and I feel like everyone in our department is accomplishing this.”

Helping Hands in Neurophysiology

“Teamwork is very important—it is practiced each day in order to increase a good workflow and provide the highest quality patient care.  We must work well together as a department, and also work well with the nurses, doctors, family and the patient to take care of the task at hand.”

Working Across Departments

“Our department works well with other departments, including: admitting, bed control, nursing, imaging, surgery, child life services, nutrition, social services and environmental services.  I see a difference working here than I have at other facilities. I love the way the nursing staff works well with the technologist, especially when we are in the room for the patient’s admission on their first day in our department.”

What Makes Children’s Unique

“The Children’s Neurophysiology department is different than any other place I have ever worked because it is state of the art. I believe it is a step above—we require higher standards than other facilities and require our staff to achieve higher goals than most other places. I consider this a plus and I am proud to be a part of an organization like this.”

If you are ready to embrace something new and really make a difference in the life of children while being surrounded by a supportive team, Children’s of Alabama’s Neurophysiology Department would love to have you apply!
