Work schedule will be Full-time on the Day Shift, Monday-Friday, 7am-3:30pm.
Summary:
The Secretary provides administrative and operational support to the Biomedical Engineering Department. This position serves as a primary point of contact for telephone, email, work requests, vendors, employees, and other departments. Responsibilities include coordinating medical equipment service requests, maintaining computerized maintenance records, managing department calendars and documentation, processing invoices and service contracts, preparing reports, and supporting the daily administrative functions of the department.

The Children’s of Alabama Biomedical Engineering department provides safety and support for patients and clinical staff through medical equipment management. The department is responsible for the safety of the entire medical equipment inventory, including almost 20,000 devices ranging from blood pressure machines to x-ray systems. The Biomedical Engineering Medical Equipment Management Plan is designed to ensure the safety of medical equipment used in the hospital, in compliance with regulatory mandates, in a cost-effective way. The management of medical equipment includes technical and engineering support with expertise in asset management, regulatory compliance, safety, operational instruction, and equipment maintenance services. Regulatory compliance is a top priority for the Biomedical Engineering department ensuring local, state, and federal standards are met. The department ensures electrical safety for medical equipment through scheduled, rigorous preventive maintenance, and safety checks. Equipment maintenance services include preventive maintenance, repair, and calibrations to ensure optimal operation and safety of medical equipment. The Biomedical Engineering and Technical teams provide high quality support to ensure the safety, accuracy, and reliability of medical equipment at Children’s of Alabama.
