Work schedule will be On-call/ Flexi on the Day Shift, 8a-430p.
Summary:
Provide individualized behavioral therapy for patients on the Inpatient Behavioral Health Unit and education and support services to families to assist them in understanding, accepting and adhering to recommendations of the behavioral health care team. Implement the treatment plan and assist in the milieu of the unit to create a therapeutic environment.
Other information:
- Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Counseling, Psychology or Social Work required.
- Master’s degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work or related social sciences field required.
- Experience
- A minimum of two years of experience in child and adolescent mental health field required.
- Knowledge of counseling techniques, family systems and cognitive behavioral therapy required.
- Knowledge and experience with trauma informed care is preferred.
- Licensures, Certifications, and/or Registries
- Professional license in area of specialty (i.e. Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist) required. License in the state of Alabama required. If licensed in another state, must be in the process of obtaining Alabama licensure.
Credentials with Equivalent Qualifications:
Essential:
* Licensed Professional Counselor or any of the following equivalent qualifications below:
    - Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker
    - Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist
Education with Equivalent Qualifications:
Essential:
* Masters Degree in Counseling
Experience with Equivalent Qualifications:
Essential:
* 2 Years job experience as Staff Level with specialization in the field of Behavioral Counseling
The Inpatient Behavioral Health Unit is comprised of 44 beds and provides a therapeutic, engaging environment for children ages 4 to 18. The Behavioral Health Inpatient Unit is a rewarding place to work where our care team makes an impact on children’s lives with every interaction. Along with psychiatrists, therapists, and nurse practitioners, we are involved in the day to-day care and decision making that helps kids and families live their best lives. We work hands-on with children of all ages who are struggling with depression, anxiety, suicide, self-control, and trauma. We teach them new emotional and behavioral skills in a fun and interactive way. Our patients need to know that someone cares and can help keep them safe. Someone who can listen compassionately without judgement.
