Pharmacy Technician
Main Campus Children's of Alabama Night shift Pharmacy Req #: chsys-34623-34779 Location Birmingham, Alabama Schedule 7 on/7 off- Job Summary
- A Pharmacy Technician is responsible for responding to patient needs for medications and utilizing technical preparation skills to compound, manufacture; and assimilate the medications necessary for the operation of all pharmaceutical services at Children's Hospital of Alabama. A Pharmacy Technician must be able to work efficiently and accurately while following diversified departmental policies and procedures while under the supervision of a registered pharmacist. This practice will be governed by the standards of institutional hospital pharmacy as stated by the Alabama State Board of Pharmacy.
- Education
- A minimum of 2 years of college with emphasis on math courses and/or minimum of 2 years experience in a retail pharmacy or 1 year in a hospital pharmacy.
- Experience
- 2 years experience in a retail pharmacy or 1 year in a hospital pharmacy.
- Licensures, Certifications, and/or Registries
- Alabama State Board of Pharmacy Technician Registration required
- A current certification by a national board accredited association, i.e. American Society of Health System Pharmacists must be obtained within 18 months of hire. 20 years or more of pharmacy technician experience at Children’s of Alabama may be used in lieu of certification. Technicians who have previously obtained certification must maintain it.

Schedule: 7 on/7 off, Night shift, 9:00 pm - 7:00 am
