Summary:
The Nutrition Resident supports the delivery of high-quality nutrition care by identifying patients at nutrition risk, assisting with nutrition assessments under the guidance of a registered dietitian, and contributing to the development and implementation of individualized nutrition care plans. Responsibilities include providing age-appropriate nutrition education to patients and caregivers, recommending and monitoring nutrition interventions, supporting enteral and parenteral nutrition management, coordinating nutrition-related discharge planning, and assisting in the enteral feeding lab and other clinical areas as needed. The Nutrition Resident also maintains patient education materials and documents all care in accordance with departmental, organizational, and regulatory standards.
In addition to direct patient care, the Nutrition Resident promotes excellent customer service by responding promptly to patient and family concerns and collaborating with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to optimize patient outcomes. The position supports departmental initiatives through participation in program development, patient education, quality improvement, and applied research while expanding clinical knowledge and skills throughout the residency. The Nutrition Resident maintains professional competency and contributes to the continued growth and success of clinical nutrition services.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in nutrition from a program accredited by the American Dietetic Association and certification in area of specialization (for example, but not limited to, CDE, CNSD, CSP, CSR) and Registered Dietitian (RD) or RD eligible.
Experience
Licensures, Certifications, and/or Registries
Registered Dietitian (RD) or RD eligible; Licensed Dietitian as applicable
