Work schedule will be Full-time on the Day Shift, Mon - Fri some weekends and after hours required.
Summary:
Responsible for the development and implementation of marketing and communications initiatives to serve the information and promotional needs of the health system, medical divisions, fundraising and advocacy activities of Children’s of Alabama. This includes oversight of research, planning and implementation of messages and media for internal and external audiences. Position reports directly to the Chief Development Officer and has management responsibility for the Department of Marketing and Communications.
Required Experience
- More than 10 years relevant, progressively responsible experience.
- Previous management level experience directing a marketing and communications team responsible for creating and deploying enterprise-wide marketing or communication strategies.
Required Skills/Knowledge
- Expertise in developing effective marketing and communications strategies
- Demonstrated leadership and management skills
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
- Experience with establishing an effective and measurable marketing and communication plan in a multifaceted healthcare setting
- Organizational ability to manage team and department budgets for activities of Children's of Alabama's Marketing and Communications Department
- Experience working for a hospital/health care system (Preferred)

- Develop strategic marketing and communications strategies that advance the vision, mission, and goals of Children’s of Alabama including the following
- Provide strategic leadership and development for marketing and communications with a focus on results driven performance, innovation, service and accountability.
- Develop appropriate reporting for effectiveness of efforts, adapting in response to data.
- Manage a proactive public relations program that elevates the reputation of Children’s of Alabama regionally and nationally.
- Manage disaster and crisis communication plans in conjunction with department staff, administration, safety and security and local emergency management agencies.
- Implement an integrated project management system to ensure appropriate allocation of resources and ability to meet strategic communication and marketing goals for the organization.
- Foster strong internal communication channels to ensure employees are informed and engaged through internal communications, newsletters, and announcements.
- Experience leading digital strategy for social media, web development, and digital content for the health system.
- Experience providing strategic direction and guidance to the creative services team and managing brand consistency and voice across all channels.
- Oversees development and maintenance of Children’s web sites and online web strategy in support of the organization, business units, medical divisions and special programs.
- Manage budget and reporting for the marketing and communications department.
Required Education:
- Bachelor of Science or Arts in Marketing, Public Relations, or another related field
- Master's degree in Marketing or other related field preferred
Children's Strategic Communications & Marketing Department provides a wide range of services to meet the needs of both internal and external customers in a variety of areas. SCM is responsible for generating and distributing timely and accurate information about Children's of Alabama. The department handles all of Children's public relations, media relations, public affairs, advertising, marketing and internal communications. The department also produces all printed materials for both on and off campus constituencies. Children's Strategic Communications and Marketing Department provides a wide range of services to meet the needs of both internal and external customers in a variety of areas. Some of the services available include: Media Relations Social Media Strategy Content Creation Marketing Strategy and Campaigns Employee Communications Photography and Audio/Video Productions Print/Material Development Web Development Internships.
