In Health Education Safety at Main Campus Lee Building

Work schedule will be Full-time on the Day Shift, Monday-Friday.

Summary:
The coordinator will assist with the organization and delivery of statewide educational services through the Health Education and Safety Center. This role focuses on reducing preventable childhood injuries through hands-on education, community events, school programs, and partnerships with local organizations. The coordinator is responsible for assisting with the coordination and delivery of evidence-based safety education and resources directly to children, families, and caregivers across Alabama communities. 

Other information:

The coordinator will assist with coordinating education and injury prevention programs in order to support the overall goals and vision of the Health Education and Safety Center, as needed and directed by the manager. This could include such activities as preparing for department programs, as well as providing training and educational resource materials for community partners, volunteers, contract workers, and other support personnel. The coordinator will support and assist with all programs within the Health Education and Safety Center, as needed. Job requires excellent written, oral and listening communication skills in working with all levels of community, parents, corporate leaders, Children's of Alabama' support staff and partners in other similar programs. Must be flexible and able to shift priorities easily. Provide administrative skills in meeting various deadlines and miscellaneous reports, as required.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in public health, health education, nursing, or related field required.
  • Master’s degree from accredited School of Public Health or other appropriate field (e.g., Education, Health Education, Health Behavior, Nursing, Consumer and Family Sciences or equivalent) preferred.
  • Master’s degree from accredited School of Public Health or other appropriate field (e.g., Education, Health Education, Health Behavior, Nursing, Consumer and Family Sciences or equivalent) preferred.

Experience:

  • 3-5 years of experience in community health, health education, outreach, or a related field strongly preferred.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, etc.

Credentials:

    • National Child Passenger Safety Technician Certification, or may be completed within 1 year, with the intent of becoming a Certified Child Passenger Safety Technician Instructor upon gaining experience as a technician.
