Work schedule will be Full-time on the Day Shift, Day shift educator.
Summary:
Responsible for facilitating the professional role development and growth of nurses and other healthcare personnel at Children's of Alabama.
Other information:
National Certification must be obtained within 3 years. **Employees in this role prior to 1/1/2025 will be grandfathered in and now working towards obtaining the certification.
- Education
- BSNrequiredwith afocus on subspecialtyareaappropriate forspecificposition preferred. Candidates will be considered but must enroll (within 12 months of acceptingposition)and completeMSNdegree.
- Experience
- Minimum of 3 years of clinical nursing experience (with at least 2 years experience working withspecifiedpatient population or pediatric nursing preferred). Good oral and written communication skills.
- Licensures, Certifications, and/or Registries
- Current RN license in the State of Alabama.
- BLS, PALS, or NRP Instructor Certification
- National Certification obtained within 2 years
- Member of Professional Organization
Credentials with Equivalent Qualifications:
Essential:
* Registered Nurse AL Single State or any of the following equivalent qualifications below:
    - Registered Nurse AL NLC Multi State
    - Registered Nurse Non-AL NLC Multi State
* Basic Life Support
* Certified Pediatric Nurse or any of the following equivalent qualifications below:
    - Certified Pediatric Oncology Nurse
    - Certified Registered Nurse of Infusion
    - Certified Registered Rehabilitation Nurse
    - Certified Nephrology Nurse
    - Certified Nurse Operating Room
    - Clinical Nurse Specialist
    - Certified Post Anesthesia Nurse
    - Certified Pediatric Emergency Nurse
    - Certified Pediatric Hematology Oncology Nurse
    - Nursing Professional Development Certification
Education with Equivalent Qualifications:
Essential:
* Masters of Science Nursing in Nursing
Experience with Equivalent Qualifications:
Essential:
* 3 Years job experience as Staff Level with specialization in the field of Nursing Acute
The mission of Nursing Professional Development Center is to design and implement high quality programs of professional development in which nurses engage to acquire and maintain competence, enhance professional nursing practice, and support the achievement of personal career goals. The Nursing Professional Development Center offers the following to health care professionals working at Children’s of Alabama: American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) programs American Heart Association Pediatric Life Support (PALS) programs Neonatal Resuscitation Program Nursing Service Orientation Clinical Assistant/Unit Support Staff orientation Transition into Practice for newly graduated nurses Education support and consultation Pediatric continuing education programs (Alabama Board of Nursing and American Nurses Credentialing Center approved providers) Coordination of clinicals and preceptorships for schools and colleges of nursing
